Milton Academy Giving Day 2023 FAQs

How can I make a gift?

You can donate online on March 9 by going to give.milton.edu/giving-day-2023 and selecting the orange 'Give Now' button. From this 'Give Now' button, you can support one or more microchallenges and/or designations. You may also make a gift to another designation at Milton by choosing “other.” No matter your designation, all gifts made to Milton on 3/9/23 between midnight ET and 11:59 p.m. ET will count towards the $100K Giving Day Challenge.

What forms of payment can I use online?

This year, you can donate online with PayPal, Venmo, or a credit card. Follow the steps above and proceed to the Giving Form where you can select your payment method.

What are the other methods of payment I can use on Giving Day?

Matching Gifts

Many employers will match their employees’ philanthropic contributions. Your generosity to Milton Academy could be doubled or even tripled! Ask your HR representative today to find out if your company has a matching gift program. To submit your Matching Gift Form to Milton and be sure it is counted on Giving Day, please fax it to: 617-898-1704 or mail it to the Office of Development and Alumni Relations by March 9.

Milton Academy is a 501(c)3 charity, EIN# 042-103603. Thank you for your generosity.

Why should I give on March 9? Can’t I still help Milton Academy by giving on another day?

Your gifts to Milton Academy are always appreciated—thank you for your generosity! For this year's annual Giving Day, our challenge goal is to reach 1,000 donors in 24 hours on March 9, and we need your help to reach that goal and unlock $100K for the Milton Fund from Giving Day Challengers Tom '92 and Kulin Reardon P '26.

This year, you may also participate in special microchallenges to help unlock even more funding for Milton!

Where can I find a list of microchallenges?

This year, we will be focusing on three cause-based microchallenges:

Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Justice

Financial Aid

Student Experience

We also have affiliation-based microchallenges:

Boarding Community

China & Hong Kong Regional

Faculty & Staff

Parents

Senior Gift

Young Miltonians

25th Reunion Gift

Can I still donate to a non-challenge Milton Fund designation?

Yes! All Milton Fund designations (School's Greatest Needs, Financial Aid, Faculty Support, Facilities, DEIJ, and Student Experience) will count toward the $100K Giving Day Challenge. On the giving form, you can select one or more from the Area of Interest drop-down.

Can I make my gift count toward more than one microchallenge?

Yes! You can make a gift in support of multiple microchallenges or designations and affiliations. To add an additional Area of Interest, select your first option and then click on the orange 'Add Additional Gift' button.

After choosing to make an additional gift, you will get to choose another microchallenge or designation. Please note that no matter how many microchallenges or designations you choose, you will count toward the $100K Giving Day Challenge as one unique donor.

Be sure to select all of your applicable affiliations to count towards the affiliation-based microchallenges (Boarding Community, China & Hong Kong Regional, Faculty & Staff, Parents, Senior Gift, and Young Miltonians).

What if the area I want to give to isn’t listed as a microchallenge or designation?

You can choose to give to any area on Giving Day. On the giving form, you can select 'Other' as an Area of Interest and then write in your preferred designation.

I live or will be traveling outside of the Eastern Time zone on March 9. Will my gift count that day?

As the Milton Academy Challenge HQ is in Milton, Massachusetts, the timeline for giving is between midnight and 11:59 p.m. ET. Please be sure to make your gift during this period so that your gift will count!

I will not have access to the phone or internet on March 9. Can I make a gift now to have it counted on Giving Day?

Yes! You may send a check made payable to Milton Academy in advance of Giving Day to:

Office of Development and Alumni Relations
Milton Academy
170 Centre Street
Milton, MA 02186

Please indicate in the memo line that you would like your gift to count towards Giving Day.

I typically make my gift through my employer’s portal to have my gifts matched (i.e., Dell, Apple, JustGive, YourCause, Benevity, etc). How can I ensure that my gift will be counted for the Giving Day Challenge?

Unfortunately, we cannot guarantee that we will receive your gift through those channels by March 9. Gifts made through employer portals or other third-party platforms may take as long as three (3) months before arriving at Milton Academy, depending on their disbursement practices. So we encourage you to make a gift of any amount on March 9 at give.milton.edu/giving-day-2023 in order to have your participation counted.

I would like to make a pledge on March 9. Will that count toward the $100K Giving Day Challenge?

Thank you for your support of the Milton community! Unfortunately, pledges will not count toward the $100K Giving Day Challenge. While we are greatly appreciative of those who wish to make a pledge, only gift transactions made between midnight and 11:59 p.m. ET on March 9 will count toward Giving Day challenges.

If I already made a gift to Milton this year, and I make another gift on March 9, will it count toward the Giving Day Challenge?

Thank you for your past support, and yes! All alumni, students, parents, and friends who have already given in this fiscal year may make another gift to the Milton community on March 9, and it will count toward the $100K Giving Day Challenge.

Can I see who has already made a gift on Giving Day?

Yes! You can see who has already made a gift in support of Giving Day by scrolling down to the 'Donors' section of the Giving Day website, which will be updated throughout the day. When a gift is made on the Giving Day website, the name of the donor will be visible in the 'Donors' section if they choose to display their name. However, since gifts will be coming in from various sources throughout the day, the list may not be fully inclusive of all donors.

What is a Giving Day Advocate? How do I become one?

As a Giving Day Advocate you will be a volunteer supporting Milton’s effort to spread the word about giving back to Milton on Giving Day. This is an excellent way to get involved on Giving Day and give back to the Milton Community. Head to our Giving Day Advocate page to learn more.

What is GiveCampus?

The Milton Fund is partnering with GiveCampus to offer the Milton Academy community—alumni, parents, students, and friends—a place to come together on March 9 to support Milton. GiveCampus is an online fundraising platform used by nonprofit educational institutions to raise money for their annual needs.
